David started paddling outrigger canoes at age 11 and won his first State Championship with Outrigger Canoe Club in 1987. He's been kayaking since 1988 winning his first National Championship in Raleigh, North Carolina. He ultimately spent 7 years on the U.S. National Team for kayaking at both the junior and senior level. He was a finalist in the Junior World Champioships in Hamburg, Germany in 1992 and competed in the 1996 Olympic Trials in Chula Vista, California. Following the trials and college graduation, David returned home to Honolulu. He was a consistant top 5 finisher in the Kanaka Ikaika ocean racing series and had multiple top 10 finishes in the individual Molokai to Oahu World Championship crossing. Today, he tries to get on the water in his spare time when he's not selling homes or spending time with this family.
