David started working with Hawaii Life in 2008 when he was still with RE/MAX 808 Realty. At the time, he was pouring lots of time and resources into his own personal website when he got approached to work with Hawaii Life as a referral partner. The financial crisis hit later that fall, however David continued to work hard. By the following summer he was juggling 8 escrows at once and half of them came to him through Hawaii Life as a referral partner. After a year of being recruited, David decided to join Hawaii Life as the Broker in Charge for Oahu.
David spent a year going through the Hawaii Association of Realtors' Leadership Academy in 2011. His class worked on a project/concept for a statewide MLS and collaborated with Cameron Paine of the Connecticut MLS - a pioneer in bridging MLS systems together. After graduating, he went on to spend 2 years on the Hawaii Association of Realtors' Education Committee.
With Hawaii Life in its infancy stages, the brokerage was streamlined to keep costs low. David's home served as the "Oahu Office" for the first few years. Agents literally came to his home to sign contracts and their hard work slowly paid off. In February of 2011, there were now 11 agents on Oahu and Hawaii Life opened a brick and mortar office in Kahala. Over the next few years David continued to recruit new agents and grew the office to roughly 30 agents prior to stepping down as the BIC in the fall of 2013.
During his time at Hawaii Life David had written more articles on HawiiiLife.com than any other Realtor with over 300 by the time he left the firm to join Harcourts. He's also been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, Pacific Business News, KITV and other outlets in addition to appearing on numerous episodes of Hawaii Life on HGTV and Live Here, Buy This on HGTV Canada.
