Neighborhood Information on Chinatown: Like every major metropolitan city, Honolulu has its own Chinatown as well. Next to Downtown, Chinatown is rich in history. The Chinatown fires were mentioned in James Michener’s “The Hawaiians” and one of the reasons why Chinatown is home to the Honolulu Fire Department’s first fire station. Station 1 is referred to as the Central Station to this day.

With a mix of food markets, historic office buildings, lei stands and some of the trendiest restaurants in Honolulu, Chinatown is a vibrant neighborhood and home to a handful of high rise condominiums, which offers a lifestyle close to Downtown with lots of culture. There’s a nearby Safeway for your local shopping as well as a Longs (CVS) drug store.
