Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor is the "grand daddy" of all military bases in Hawaii. Although Pearl Harbor was put on the map on December 7, 1941, its roots go way back. In the Spanish American War of 1898, it became apparent that the United States needed a strong military presence in the Pacific. The following year, dredging began to allow large ships to enter in the channel.

Today, Pearl Harbor is know as "the best homeport in the Navy" and is also home to the Commander in Chief Pacific Fleet. In addition to Pearl Harbor's active duty personnel and ships, several tourist attractions have been iconic symbols on the base, such as the Arizona Memorial and the Might Mo (U.S.S. Missouri).

Nearby neighborhoods are Aiea, Halawa, Pacific Palisades, Pearl City and Waimalu, which are older established neighborhoods. Newer homes can be found in Ewa Beach, Kapolei and Makakilo. Additional, more affordable options could be nearby condos or town homes in Aiea, Pearlridge or Salt Lake.
