Neighborhood Information about Kaimalino: Kaimalino is the last section of homes on the northern end of Mokapu Blvd across from Aikahi Park. It's also where you can get the most affordable oceanfront homes in Kailua. Part of the reason is most of the oceanfront homes are on the rocks (vs. white sandy beach). The homes also get more exposure to the salt air with onshore prevailing trade-winds. The oceanfront homes also have nice views across Kailua Bay to the Mokulua Islands off Lanikai.
Not all homes in Kaimalino are oceanfront. The ones that aren't are situated on quiet streets and have nice sized R-10 zoned lots that are over 10,000 sq. ft. The main streets are Old Mokapu Road, Kaimalino and Milokai Streets. Similar to Aikahi Park, Kaimalino it close to the back entrance of Kaneohe Marine Base. There's also a nickname for Kaimalino over the years that's been called "Triipler East" as so many of the residents in Kaimalino work at Tripler Hospital and love Kaimalino due to it's easy commute over H-3 Hwy.
