Neighborhood Information about Kapahulu: Kapahulu is nestled between Diamond Head, Kaimuki and Waikiki. The main thoroughfare is Kapahulu Ave, where there are all kinds of great shops and restaurants. One of the latest additions is a large Safeway complex that has one of the nicest Safeways on Oahu. The majority of the residential real estate product in Kaimuki are single family homes, however there are also some condos and multi-family homes. The majority of the single family lots are zoned R-5 and are 5,000 square feet. Some of the homes in Kaimuki date back to the 1930’s, however you’ll see a mixuture of older single wall construction homes to newer stucco homes.
Kapahulu has traditionally held its values well throughout real estate cycles as it’s a desirable place to live with its close proximity to Waikiki where there are jobs and some nice surf. There are even some streets that have some great views of the ocean, Kapiolani park and the city lights of Waikiki in the evening. Kapahulu also offers a great single family home alternative to condo living in Diamond Head or Waikiki as prices start in the $500,000 range for a cute 2 bedroom bungalow style home.
