The Hawaii Kai Condo Projects or Hawaii Kai CP townhomes are clusters of units along Kawaihae St. and nearby side streets. They are attached dwellings that although condo in nature, have very little to no (common) amenities. What's attractive about that is the maintenance fees can also be very low or nonexistent. Although you may be subject to marina fees, it's not the end of the world considering the opportunity to live on the marina in Hawaii Kai!
Although the 1960's is relatively old for Hawaii Kai condos, the majority of these units I've seen on the resale market have been remodeled quite nicely. They offer a great alternative to a single family home on the marina as they can be found for several hundred thousand less, without having to incur the higher maintenance fees of most condos.
