Mount Terrace (spelled Mt. Terrace in MLS) is the original luxury condominium complex in Hawaii Kai. Built in 1974, this high rise at the Gateway to Hawaii Kai was ahead of its time. The units themselves are very spacious and offer some of the larger 2 bedroom floor plans in all of Honolulu. Similar to the Regency at Kahala, there is typically a door person to greet you in the lobby. There's also a wonderful and grand porte cacher. There's extensive Koa wood throughout common areas. The amenities are almost too exhausting to name. It's one of the few high rise complexes I know of on Oahu that has its own racquetball courts. The upper roof deck has a similar feel to 1350 Ala Moana and most the units are perched up high enough to take advantage of the views of both the marina and ocean. For example, the lowest floor is the equivalent to the 4th floor in other buildings, so the views obtained (by default) are quite impressive from most units. 

I had the fortunate opportunity to live in Mount Terrace for a brief period as a child. My grandmother also lived here for a short stint as well. Throughout the years, I found myself coming back to the building several times during my time spent as a Honolulu firefighter in Hawaii Kai and got to know the building even better. I've been on the rooftop on several occasions and the views are to die for... overlooking the marina, ocean reefs and Paiko Lagoon. The homeowners association is very proactive and doing what it can to keep maintenance fees lower. They even lease roof space to cell phone providers to offset the costs. The resident manager runs a tight ship and the place is very well maintained considering it is as old as I am.  

The A and B stacks are the ones facing the ocean and typically demand the higher prices. Below you'll find the latest available condos for sale at Mount Terrace (if any).
