The Waikiki Shore is the only true oceanfront condominium in Waikiki. All of the other prime real estate is taken up by the hotels. Otherwise, the closest you can get to the water in Waikiki would be the Ilikai or Ilikai Marina with a road, parking and marina in front of you to the west or a building like Waikiki Beach Tower or Foster Tower to the east with buildings and Kalakaua Ave. separating you from the ocean. The next best alternative would be the Gold Coast condos at Diamond Head.
Now that we've pointed out how great of a location the Waikiki Shore has, another attractive point is it has some of the lowest maintenance fees in all of Waikiki. For example, it's just a fraction of the cost of Trump Tower across the street. Part of the reason for this is the AOAO owns the commercial spaces in the building and the revenue helps offset the costs.
Waikiki Shore is also zoned resort, so you have the ability to lease it out short term like a condotel. On site you have Castle Resorts and Outrigger Hotels that can manage it for you. You also have the option to go with 3rd party property managers, self manage (if you're a resident) or live in as a primary residence.
